Hey Guys!
I wanted to share with you a trailer that I’ve been waiting for to come out for at least a good year and a half.
The indie horror film “Creep”, starring actors Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, who also directed the film, was released back in 2015. It tells a story about a young videographer named Aaron (Brice) visiting a lonely man named Joseph (Duplass) who posted an ad on Craigslist. Without spoiling anything, “Creep” turned out to be a great surprise. Since its release, “Creep” has hit cult status. The film does a unique play on the found footage genre by taking a more psychological approach. Now, it’s back with a sequel also directed by Brice.
“Creep 2″ appears to have a similar setup as its predecessor. This time we follow another aspiring artist with a camera named Sara (Desiree Akhavan) who is looking to explore the world of intimacy and the men posting ads online. She comes across an ad by a filmmaker (Duplass) who is experiencing some creative blockages. He decides to make a documentary and wants Sara to help out. She agrees but soon realizes she may have made a deadly mistake.
I’m so excited for this movie. I loved Creep when I saw it on Netflix last year. Though found footage films are kind of a hit or miss, “Creep” remains one of my favorites in the horror sub-genre. My hope is the movie will have traits like the first film. I’m expecting heavy dialogue, a little to no music soundtrack, effective jump scares, and a twist ending.
If the film does take a different route, I may not be bothered. The film is produced by Blumhouse, who I think is at the forefront of this horror renaissance thanks to their box office hits including“Get Out”, and the recently released “Happy Death Day.” I have hopes this film will deliver.
I recommend you check out “Creep” first then go see this movie. You can find it on Netflix now. Patrick Brice’s “Creep 2″ will be released on video on demand on October 24.
